Glitter & Greed:
The Lisa Frank Story
STUDIO: BGSTR
CLIENT: MAXINE
TYPE: DOCUMENTARY TITLE SEQUENCE
ROLE: 3D DESIGNER
This four-part documentary peels back the glossy, neon surface of Lisa Frank’s world, exposing the tension between its rainbow-hued fantasy and the darker truths beneath. Partnering with BGSTR, our team designed a psychedelic 3D title sequence and nostalgia-driven visual identity that celebrate the brand’s iconic style while hinting at the complexity of its story.
DESIGN FRAMES
While the team spearheads the animation deliverables for the documentary that are going towards the more illustrative direction, the main title needed to be psychedelic to set the stage for the documentary. The nostalgia-soaked, 3D title sequence we conceptualized references key moments in the neon-hued company's history while showing off its roots in Lisa Franks' signature design.
Building on this concept, under the guidance of the lead 3D designer and animator, I was responsible for 3D modeling, scene reconstruction, composition design, lighting, and rendering, creating a series of style frames to establish the project’s tone and visual rhythm. Through these explorations, we shaped a world that feels both dreamlike and unsettling — a perfect mirror to the duality at the heart of Glitter and Greed.

TESTS

Wireframes: Modeling, Lighting, Rendering

I tested out several compositions and lighting to make more unique perspectives for this mood and concept on Cinema4D after bringing in these models and assets.
I had a lot of back and forth with the lead designer and animator for this process, for slight remodeling on specific assets according to the client feedback.
